What Is LEGO® Monkey Palace?
LEGO® Monkey Palace is a board game with a creative twist — players use real LEGO bricks to build staircases on their own player boards. The goal? Construct the tallest and most impressive staircases to earn points, collect monkey cards, and most importantly... bananas! Bananas are the key to victory.
How Does the Game Work?
The game is played in rounds, and each round consists of individual player turns.
On your turn, follow these steps:
1. Build Your Staircase
Use your available LEGO bricks to build a staircase on your player board following specific rules:
- Each level must be higher than the last.
- The staircase must be stable and structurally sound.
- Your structure must include arches — the more arches you build, the more points you earn!
2. Add a Decoration
After building your staircase, choose and add a decorative element in the matching color. It’s not only visual — it also counts for points.
3. Earn Points for Arches
Count your arches! The number of arches determines how many points you receive. Use these points to buy monkey cards.
4. Buy Monkey Cards
Spend your points to draw from the monkey deck. Each monkey card gives you helpful bonuses:
- Extra LEGO bricks
- Bananas
- Special effects like additional building actions or bonus objectives
5. Check for Special Goals
If you've met certain conditions, you may claim a bonus card or a trophy, both of which provide extra points or abilities that help in future turns.
When Does the Game End?
The game ends when a player cannot draw the required number of LEGO bricks at the end of their turn. Finish the current round, then move to final scoring.
Winning the Game
Each player adds up the bananas they’ve earned from monkey cards, bonuses, and trophies.
The player with the most bananas wins!
