Rebel Game Splendor – Become the Most Powerful Merchant on the Silk Road!

Splendor is a strategic board game in which players take on the role of Renaissance merchants competing for prestige and wealth. To succeed, they must collect gems, invest in the development of their trade empire, and earn the favor of aristocrats. The game combines simple rules with deep strategic decisions, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced players.

Game Rules:

Setup:

  1. Prepare the Development Card Decks – Cards are divided into three levels (I, II, and III). Each deck is shuffled, and four cards from each level are placed face-up on the table.

  2. Distribute Gem and Gold Tokens – The game includes 40 gem tokens (7 of each type: diamond, sapphire, emerald, ruby, and onyx) and 5 gold tokens, which act as wildcards.

  3. Set Up Aristocrats – A number of aristocrat tiles equal to the number of players +1 are randomly selected and placed on the table. The rest are set aside for this game.

  4. Determine the First Player – The first player is chosen by any method, and the game proceeds in clockwise order.

Gameplay:

Each player, on their turn, performs one of four available actions:

  1. Take Gem Tokens:

    - A player may take three different gems or two of the same type (only if at least four of that token are available).
    - The maximum number of tokens a player can hold is 10. If a player exceeds this limit, they must return excess tokens to the supply.

  2. Reserve a Development Card and Take Gold:

    - A player may reserve any available development card or draw one blindly from the deck.
    - Reserving a card grants one gold token, which acts as a wildcard.
    - A player may hold up to three reserved cards at any time.

  3. Purchase a Development Card:

    - A player may buy a development card using collected gem tokens and/or gold tokens.
    - Purchased cards provide a permanent gem bonus (discount on future purchases) and sometimes prestige points.

  4. Claim an Aristocrat:

    - If a player meets an aristocrat’s requirements (owning a specific set of development cards), they automatically acquire the aristocrat and gain prestige points.

End of the Game

- The game ends when a player reaches 15 prestige points. The round is completed so that all players have had an equal number of turns.
- The player with the most prestige points wins.
- In case of a tie, the winner is the player who has purchased the fewest development cards.
