Game setup:

- The game is played on a board consisting of hexagonal tiles that represent various natural resources: wood, bricks, sheep, grain and iron.
- Players start with two settlements and two roads. At the beginning of the game, each player receives resource cards and places their settlements on selected tiles.
- The game is played in turns, and each player has one of several available actions to perform.

Player Turn: On their turn, the player performs the following steps:

- Rolling the dice – after rolling two dice, it is determined which resource tiles produce resources in a given turn. Players who have settlements on tiles with the appropriate number receive the appropriate resource cards.
- Building – the player can build new roads, settlements, or cities using the resource cards they have collected.
Road: requires 1 wood and 1 brick.
Settlement: requires 1 wood, 1 brick, 1 sheep, and 1 grain.
City: requires 3 iron and 2 grain.
- Trading – players can exchange resources with other players or with the bank if they have excess resources.

The goal of the game: to gain 10 victory points. Points are scored by:
- Building settlements (1 point for each settlement).
- Building cities (2 points for each city).
- Having the longest road (2 points).
- Having the most knights (2 points).
- Special cards that award additional points.

End of the game: the game ends when one of the players reaches 10 victory points. The player who first reaches the required points wins.
