The Good Behavior Chart is an excellent educational aid. Thanks to it, the child sees the effects every day and in which areas of behavior there are shortcomings.
The smiling faces alone will certainly be a source of pride for the Toddler and he will be happy to strive for such a state, especially when there is a reward at the end.
It is worth starting to use the board from Monday, and the day before, set the rules with the child, and a small prize that he will receive at the end of the week, of course, if he collects the agreed number of points.
The table contains individual behaviors:
- I dress myself
- I eat my meals without complaining
- I brush my teeth by myself
- I am happy to go to ... (here we can choose any place, e.g. kindergarten)
- I'm well behaved
I put the toys away
- and additionally two empty spaces for tasks that we agree on together with the child - I help in taking care of my little sister or I help in washing the dishes....
In the fields of the days of the week, every evening the adult will mark the child's behavior by sticking magnetic tags in the appropriate windows. For completing the task, a green badge with a smiling fish is attached. For failure to complete the task, a red mark with an anchor is attached.
It is important to determine in advance how many green stamps the child must collect and what reward they will receive (e.g. going out for ice cream, a new toy or sweets. There is an appropriate field on the board to enter this information.
The board is covered with a magnetic layer that allows it to be attached to a refrigerator or other metal surface.
